Lara, The Prayer.

Dream

The setting is an old church. It is very cold and draughty. Lara, my counsellor, is counselling 2 young women there. They are sitting on one of the pews. One of them has perpetrated some unspeakable crime against the other, sometime ago. The nature of the crime is not specified, but the victim has been left feeling devastated.
Lara has made a breakthrough with the perpetrator, who is now kneeling, in prayer, in the pew. As Lara thinks this process is going to take a while, so she decides to send the victim home.

Dream notes and associations

I think this dream is about a conversation I had with Dr Qureshi, about being able to justify continuing with my mental care plan, which allows me to be counselled by Lara at a subsidised rate.
In January this year I had a major breakthrough about being raped when I was 13/14. (Alternative truth dream plus subsequent dreams).
Lara and I are now focusing on my relationship with my mother. But I guess I will have to consider that by the end of the year, I may not be able to justify another mental health care plan.

Hi Lindsay, the image of the perpetrator kneeling and praying as she experiences her breakthrough seems quite profound. It would be interesting to explore all three perspectives of the victim, perpetrator and counsellor here.

Being in a church setting as well, it’s as if the three characters represent the holy trinity.
