The Franking Machine
Dream
I am walking through this vast military complex. I am carrying a franking machine, and I am taking it somewhere. I find I have come to the edge of the complex and to get to where I want to go I have to walk outside the complex. Outside it is a very desolate landscape. I don't expect to find any people out here, but I do come across a small village and some people eking out a living in this desolate place. The village is next to the outside wall of this military complex. The End.

Dream notes and associations
The dream had a dystopian, science fiction feel to it. Reminded me of a Russian movie, 'The Stalker' that I saw many years ago and of an early Dr Who story, were we first meet the Daleks. A franking machine is a machine that business use to print a postage paid imprint on their letters. I worked in the post office for a few years, early in my working life. Is there a connection between the vast military complex and the military police car, in my previous dream. Also reminds me of my aqueduct dream.
I get the impression that whoever was responsible for the complex was also responsible for the desolate landscape outside either through war or over exploitation of the natural resources or both.
My feelings throughout the dream and on awakening
dystopian, desolation, life
Hi Lindsay, is there some connection between a sense of desolation and your waking life? Interesting to note the franking machine and re-emergence of the military theme.
Possibly could be. I don’t feel like I’m achieving, at the moment, what I want to achieve in retirement. It is an over-the-top description of my life.
