The German Shepherd

Dream

I drive my car to the Railway station and park it in a street close by. I catch a train which takes me into the countryside where I am going to have an adventure. I am walking in the countryside and I see a man walking a german shepherd dog on a leash. The dog manages to get away from the man and he chases after it, trying to recapture it. The dog treats this as some sort of game. They are heading in my direction and I help the man recapture the dog. As soon as the man has the dog back in his control, on the leash, the life force that is in the dog suddenly evaporates and the dog lies lifeless on the ground.
I am back at the railway station and I am walking around the streets, trying to remember where I parked my car.

Dream notes and associations

Reminds me of the 2 dogs in the first 'Waiting for Martina' dream. In the dream I drive my Mercedes, my current car, to the station, but at the end of the dream it is my Subaru Liberty, my previous car, that I am looking for. Where I park my car, at the beginning has a sense of deja vu.

My feelings throughout the dream and on awakening

A sense of adventure, a sense of playfulness, a sense of lifelessness, a sense of loss

Hi Lindsay, I love the sense of play and adventure in this dream. The recapture and its effect on the dog seem significant. There’s a strong theme of a life force being distinguished by capture, ownership and control.
