Hospital Chaos

Dream

I'm in hospital, in a very large ward. There are hundreds of people in the ward or visiting someone in the ward. There are all sorts of activity going on around me in the ward. It is not known what is wrong with me that I have been brought to the hospital, but I am receiving spiritual healing. I am visited by a number of women, with their dogs.
I am outside the hospital, and I am doing some mechanical repairs; my car, something else, I am not sure.
I am back in the ward, and I am visited by more women and their dogs. I go and seek out the matron to find out if I can go home. She is a Chinese lady that I worked with in the deli at Woolworths, many years ago.

Dream notes and associations

Reminded me of my private dream 'The Bathroom' especially the chaotic and disorganized bombardment of images & memories. Reminded me of the Bruegel painting that I am going to use to illustrate this dream. Penny has a print of it hanging on our bedroom wall.
I am wondering if this is about next year (2026) and that I have decided to pause on seeing Lara, for the time being. Last night before going to bed I did think about a number of my teenage events that I had discussed with her.
I think the spiritual healing and the mechanical repairs seem significant. Also the hospital ward was chaotic and outside was calm. And what about all these women and their dogs? What is that about? They appeared to be nursing staff although they were dressed casually. They were, mostly, older women.
I have had hospital dreams before, usually triggered by me being admitted to hospital, but not this time.
I have just realised something significant in the title of the painting. One of our weekend traditions is the quiz in the Good Weekend. There was a question, Which festival takes its name from a Latin phrase 'farewell to meat' I gave the answer 'Lent', whereas the correct answer was 'Carnival'. Not sure how that is significant but thought I would mention it. I can remember studying this painting in Art at High School.

Hi Lindsay, I’m intrigued by the image you have used and fascinating to note the synchronicity with the title and your weekend rituals.

I was going to mention the significance of the hospital healings and the mechanical repairs – I would go further to say there may be a connection between these phenomena as well.

Yes I think there is a connection between the spiritual healing and the mechanical repairs. Also wondering if the visits by the women and their dogs is to do with the spiritual healing.
The chaos of the hospital ward and the calm of the outside where I am doing the mechanical repairs, I think, is also significant.

I recently had another dream, which hasn’t been added to dreamcubator because I could remember so very little of it. All I can remember is being on holiday and surrounded by chaos. My dog, Jeddah, who died about 30 years ago, accompanied me.

Hi Lindsay, it sounds like the dogs are providing a calming presence in the chaos. Symbolically they represent affection or caring.
